Meeting - External Residency/Exhibition - 22.1.18
Meeting 2 - Ceramic City Stories
For our next formalised meeting with Danny from Ceramic City Stories (the organisation supporting us with our exhibition venture). We discussed more logistics for the exhibition - more specifically regarding dates and times and setting out a rough action plan for the residency at the mill.
We've decided upon 22nd Feb - 25th Feb for the exhibition dates, this should allow time for a variety of people to visit the exhibition. The duration of the residency at Winkhill Mill will be carried out once a week in February to collect materials/ideas and resources to produce new work for the exhibition week. This time spent at the mill will shape the richness of our creative output in the studio; allowing us to generate an artistic exchange between the traditional tile factory and the contemporary artist's world.
Alongside the residency we will keep up a public blog to be accessed via foster-hepden.blogspot.co.uk/ . It will trace the journey of our short residency and the processes and production of our work for the show. The first post uploaded notes, "There is potential to explore meaning and value in a place bound by its history and expand the gaze of an audience by opening up another world within the factory." This lays out for the audience and for ourselves the nature of our residency work at the mill and what we hope to achieve by working with Danny/Ceramic City Stories and the tile workers at Winkhill Mill.
