Conversations W/ Fearn 1 - Collaborative Exhibition - 15.1.18

Meeting 1

For our first formalised meeting, pooling together our ideas for what we might want to produce for our collaborative exhibition. We discussed methods and processes, sharing roles and titles for the show.

Taking a look at our current work, we decided on a title which explores key aspects of our individual practices. Sense of Worth in relation to Amy's practice explores the sensate, emotional response to specific moments in time detailed in her artwork. It also challenges significance and meaning we imbue on these moments. The non-physical media used to translate these thoughts, points us in the direction of the value in immaterial art especially in comparison to Fearn's physically present work.

Fearn's current practice challenges the value of disposable consumer goods. She re-casts these objects then decorates them in gold. This offers otherwise mundane items as objects of importance and things that are thought of rather than discarded. Here she explores the worthiness of the object and the value in our perception of these things. Although different in approach to creating work and the physical output. Our work overlaps at the point of a human response or relationship to something be it the object or a time/place.

In terms of marketing, logistics and so forth, as we are managing it between ourselves it will be important for us to share all roles equally between ourselves. It will build our resilience to future events if we allow ourselves to be a part of and manage all aspects of our collaborative exhibition together.
