NN CONTEMPORARY ART
Meeting - 17/11/17
NN Contemporary Art - Northampton |
In a meeting with volunteer coordinator Laura Hogan; we discussed the logistics of the 10 week volunteer programme with the gallery. My intake in the programme at this time would be during an exiting time of change-over. I can get involved in taking down the work in the current exhibition and putting up the next open exhibition in the new year. This technical experience will serve me well moving forwards in my degree and for future exhibitions and group shows externally of university. I will also get behind the scenes knowledge of the curator/director process of choosing work for exhibition open calls in the gallery.
Interesting and engaging questions were asked to assess my suitable for the programme. Laura asked for an example of where I've used creative problem solving. To which I responded with the L4 end of year show where myself and my peers negotiated where work could be exhibited is liminal space.
To conclude I was asked to describe the visual qualities of an artwork without giving the title or artist's name. I described a large expressionist monochrome painting. With emotionally charged brushstrokes the piece appears performative. I imagine the intimacy between the artist and the canvas. - I illustrated the work of Franz Kline. An artist whose technique and passion for expressionist art has inspired me from the beginning of my own arts journey.
