In preparation for my future beyond Staffordshire University; I have applied for a number of oppoutuntites to reflect the directions I intend to take in my creative career.

Two Queens - Leicester sought a volunteer for their production team their specifications were as follows:-

"To work closely with the programme curator and lead technician and assist with the successful execution of exhibitions and events. Duties will include:
– Assisting with the coordination of install and de-install for exhibitions and events, working closely with programme technicians and artists.
– Assisting with preparation of artwork and any equipment required for exhibition.
– Assist with the adaptation and building of the gallery environment for each exhibition.
– Successful candidate should ideally have some knowledge of construction and fabrication techniques but support and training will be given."

This 6 month oppourtunity working with the gallery directors, artists and other creatives will give me the experinece I need to take with me in a future working with arts organisations. The technical knowlege to be learned from their team will benefit me greatly for my own arts practice.

Northampton Contemporary Gallery were also seeking an involved volunteer for a 10 week -programme with the organisation. Their space combines the gallery, artist studios/workshops and a cafe, a cultural hub at the center of Northampton. The dynamics of the role are similar to that of Two Queens in Leicester. They scout an individual with a keen interest in culture and contemporary art, and a positive attitude to learning new technical skills. Again working in a contemporary arts gallery/organisation will provide me the experience/knowledge to take with me in my later arts career.

An arts festival in Bath -www.fringeartsbath.co.uk/ -put out an open call for artists and curators at any stage in their artistic ventures to apply and get involved in curating themes for their 2018 festival. For this I wrote a proposal outlining my practice and how it could be a part of a larger curated exhibition exploring the human experience. This experience would be essential for development of my negotiating skills and working with artists and other curators to manage a show. - As I want to develop an interdisciplinary arts practice where I can situate myself in a number of creative formats, all of these opportunities will be invaluable experience.
